The Snuggie Pattern|How to make a Snuggie

There seems to be a lot of Demand for people wanting to make there own Snuggie patterns. We have put this together to show you just how you can make your Own snuggie pattern.

Get 1 or 2 blankets (based on the size of the person - you will need the right amount of fabric) To make the Snuggie pattern.

You don’t want your snuggie to drag on the floor, most people dont at least. So start by Getting measurements from shoulder level to the ground. We can say that’s about four feet, or 48 inches. Then measure their arm span - fingers to fingers with arms stretched Out. On average for a person that height should be about 4 feet 6 inches, or 54″.

A twin size cover or blanket would work good for this, they are often 66×90 inches. If you fold it in half along the long side, you can have a double layer of blanket that is 66 inches wide by 45 inches tall (not exactly 48, but pretty close in this case. A taller person might require two blankets; if you have to do it like that, then sew the two blankets or covers together using their top edges to get a very long rectangle)

Your Getting close to having your snuggie pattern now. Fold the Cover/blanket (or two blankets/covers) with the bottom sides outwards (if there is a bottom side). Draw on it with a crayon or a fabric pencil or marker; draw a thick T-shape, similar to a t-shirt but a bit longer - basically, you are making a 1-piece dress/outfit out of blanket material. The arms of the T will make the sleeves, and the long base will wrap around the persons body. Give alot of room with the sizing, because it’s probably nicer if it’s a bit loose. Looser snuggie patterns are nice.

Seam down the lines of the T, leaving the bottom, and the ends of the snuggie sleeves open. Make a hole in the top for their head to go through, hem it if you want, or leave it if the material is the kind of fabric that will not fray. Every the other sides should be hemmed already since you do not have to cut the blanket anywhere else.

If the person you want to make a snuggie for has different measurements, just determine how large your rectangle needs to be to fit their arms and body.
